Rule 275 Charge Read Before Argument

Before lawyers give their closing arguments, the judge must read the entire jury charge out loud to the jury. This includes every question the jury will need to answer, along with any definitions and instructions the judge has written.

The judge must read the charge exactly as it was written, word for word. Nothing can be changed or left out when reading it to the jury.
