Rule 300 Court to Render Judgment

When a jury gives a special verdict or a judge writes out specific findings of fact, the court must turn those findings into an official judgment. The judge does not get to ignore the findings and decide something different on their own.

There are a few exceptions. The court can set aside the findings, order a new trial, or issue a judgment that goes against the verdict if the rules allow for it. Outside of those situations, the findings control what the final judgment says.
