Rule 306b Advice of Right to Appeal in Orders Certifying a Child To Stand Trial as an Adult

When a juvenile court decides that a child should be tried as an adult, the judge must tell the child and their lawyer two things. First, the child has the right to appeal that decision right away. Second, the appeal will move through the courts faster than a normal appeal.

The court must give this information in two ways: by saying it out loud during the court hearing and by writing it in the official court order. Both steps are required.
