Rule 46 Petition and Answer; Each One Instrument of Writing

When you file papers in a Texas civil case, each type of filing must be in one single document. Your original petition needs to be one complete document, not split across multiple filings. The same goes for any supplemental petitions you file later.

The same rule applies to answers. Your original answer and any supplemental answers each need to be contained in one document. You cannot break up a single petition or answer into separate pieces and file them apart from each other.
