Rule 9 Number of Counsel Heard

In most court proceedings in Texas, only two lawyers per side can speak or argue. This applies to any question that comes up during a case, as well as the full trial itself.

If a case is complex or unusually important, a judge can give special permission for more than two lawyers to speak. But this is an exception, not the norm, and the court has to approve it first.
