Rule 95 Pleas of Payment

If you are being sued for money and you want to say that you already paid what you owe, you must provide written details about those payments. You need to file a document that clearly lists each payment, including what it was for and the specific amounts.

If you skip this step, the court will not let you use that payment as your defense. The only exception is if your original court filing already described the payments in enough detail that the person suing you could clearly understand what you are claiming.
