Art. 18B.552 NO CAUSE OF ACTION

If your phone company, email provider, or other communication service hands over your records because a court ordered them to, you cannot sue them for it. This applies whether the company got a court order, a warrant, a subpoena, or a formal certification asking for the information.

The idea is simple. These companies are legally required to comply when the government properly demands records. Since they are just following the law, you cannot turn around and sue the company, its employees, or its agents for giving up your information. The protection covers the company itself and the people who work for it, including anyone who helped carry out the request.

This means if you find out your service provider shared your data because of a court order, your legal options are limited. You cannot go after the company for cooperating with a lawful demand. Any challenge would need to focus on whether the order or warrant itself was valid, not on the company's decision to follow it.
