Plain-English Summary (for reference only — not a substitute for the rule text above)
This summary is not the rule. The rule text controls.
If a police officer is trying to do their job and someone resists or fights back, the officer is allowed to call on regular people nearby to help out. The officer can gather as many people as needed from the county to help handle the situation and overcome that resistance.
If an officer asks you for help this way, you are required to obey and assist. This is an old rule that gives officers the power to temporarily deputize citizens on the spot when they need backup and don't have enough law enforcement support available.
