Art. 59.07 IMMUNITY

This rule protects police officers and other government officials from extra legal liability when they are doing their jobs the right way. If an officer is following the law and properly carrying out their duties under this chapter, this rule does not create any new way to sue them or hold them personally responsible.

In simple terms, this is a shield for officers who act correctly and stay within their legal authority. It does not let people bring new claims against an officer just because of actions taken under this chapter, as long as the officer was acting lawfully. If an officer breaks the law or acts outside their duties, this protection does not apply.
