Rule 155 Trial Date.

If you're charged with a traffic offense, your trial can't be scheduled until at least five days after the date the offense happened. This gives you time to prepare your case before you have to appear in court.

You can give up this waiting period if you want to. But the court has to tell you about your right to this five-day gap first. If you agree to skip it, the judge can then decide to set an earlier trial date at their discretion.
