Every decision a judge makes in a case, whether it's a ruling, judgment, or other determination, has to be put in writing and signed by the judge. This creates a clear, official record of what the court decided.

Sometimes a judge will announce a decision out loud in the courtroom before the written version is ready. This rule says that verbal order still counts and can be enforced right away. You don't have to wait for the paperwork to be finalized before following what the judge ordered. The written version will come later, but the oral order is binding as soon as the judge says it.
