Utah courts only have one type of case for civil matters, simply called a "civil action." In the past, different legal systems used separate types of lawsuits depending on what you were asking for, and each type had its own special rules and procedures you had to follow correctly.
This rule gets rid of all those old categories. Now, no matter what kind of civil problem you're bringing to court, whether it's a contract dispute, a property issue, or something else, you file the same type of case and follow the same basic set of rules. This makes things simpler because you don't have to worry about picking the "right" type of lawsuit or getting stuck on a technicality about which old-fashioned category your case fits into.
