Rule 9c Family court order upon issuance of automatic extension

When a temporary protective order automatically extends under Rule 9b, the family court still needs to make it official. At the hearing (whether temporary or final), the judge must enter a separate written order that either extends the protective order or dismisses it.

This means the automatic extension is not the end of the process. It just keeps the protection in place until the judge can formally review the case and decide what happens next. People involved in the case should expect a written order coming out of that hearing that spells out whether the protective order continues or ends.
