Rule 15 Temporary support orders

If a judge grants or changes temporary support (like child support or spousal support) during a hearing, the court must put that decision in writing by the next business day. This means you won't have to wait long to get an official copy of the support order after the hearing ends. You cannot appeal this type of order.

For other kinds of temporary relief, like temporary custody arrangements or who gets to stay in the house, the court has more time to write up the order. They must finish it within 20 days of the hearing. Just like with support orders, you cannot appeal these temporary decisions either.

The main point of this rule is speed and finality for temporary matters. Support orders get turned around fast because people often need that money right away for living expenses. Other temporary orders get a bit more time, but still must be finished within three weeks. Since neither type can be appealed, these decisions stay in place until the case moves forward or a final order is issued.
