Rule 2.6 Report on Complaints

When someone files a complaint against a judge, the Office of Disciplinary Counsel looks into it. After finishing that investigation, they have to write up a report and send it to the Judicial Investigation Commission.

This report has to say whether the investigators think there's enough evidence, called probable cause, to formally charge the judge with breaking the rules judges have to follow. It can also say if the investigators think the judge should stop serving because of age-related health problems, either physical or mental, that affect their ability to do the job.

The report also has to include anything the judge wrote back in response to the complaint. On top of that, it needs to list every document, sworn statement, or other piece of evidence gathered during the investigation. This way, the Commission has everything it needs to make an informed decision about what happens next.
