Rule 25.08 Provision of Preliminary Information to the Mediator

Before mediation actually starts, the judge or the mediator can ask both sides to hand over important paperwork ahead of time. This might include things like court filings, transcripts, or other documents related to the case.

The point of this is to help the mediator get up to speed before everyone sits down to talk. When the mediator understands the background of the case in advance, the mediation session can run more smoothly and focus on finding a resolution instead of spending time explaining basic facts.
