Rule 35.02 Service of Motion

If you're filing this motion, you need to make sure it gets sent to the other side's lawyer, not directly to the other person involved in the case. This keeps things fair, since the lawyer is the one handling the case and needs to know what's happening so they can respond.

There's one exception to this rule, which is covered separately under TCR 35.03. That exception spells out a different situation where the normal rule about serving the opposing lawyer doesn't apply. If your situation might fall under that exception, it's worth checking that rule too before you decide who to send the motion to.
