Rule 8.03 Termination of Coverage

If a judge or magistrate decides that news cameras or recording equipment are causing problems during a court case, they can stop that coverage right away. This can happen at any point after the case has already started, not just at the beginning.

The judge can cut off coverage for just part of the proceedings or shut it down for the rest of the case. The main reason they would do this is if letting cameras or recorders continue would hurt the fairness of the trial or cause problems for justice being done. This gives judges the power to protect the people involved in the case if media coverage starts to interfere with a fair outcome.
