Rule 8.05 Nonjudicial Meetings

If a courtroom is used for something other than an actual court case, like a meeting or a special event, the group hosting it and the judge in charge both have to agree on whether media can cover it. If they both say yes, the coverage still has to follow the same rules that apply to regular court proceedings.

This rule also covers ceremonial events held in courthouses, things like swearing-in ceremonies or award presentations. Media can cover these events too, but the judge overseeing the space gets to set the ground rules ahead of time. Basically, the judge decides what's allowed before any cameras or reporters show up.

The main point here is that judges keep control over their courtrooms even when the room isn't being used for a trial or hearing. Anyone wanting to bring media into a courthouse for a non-court event needs to get approval first and follow whatever conditions the judge sets.
