Rule C Terms of Office of the Members of the Commission.

This rule sets up how long people serve on the Commission when it first started. It splits the members into three groups so the terms do not all end at the same time.

The first group serves one year. This includes a bar member, an appointee from the Governor, a district judge, an at-large member, and appointees from the Alabama Trial Lawyers Association, the Alabama Defense Lawyers Association, and the Alabama Lawyers Association.

The second group serves two years. This includes another bar member, an appointee from the Lieutenant Governor, a judge from the Court of Civil Appeals, a circuit judge, an appointee from the Attorney General, and another at-large member.

The third group serves three years. This includes a third bar member, an appointee from the Speaker of the House, a Supreme Court justice, another circuit judge, a family court judge, and a third at-large member. After these first terms end, everyone who joins the Commission after that serves three-year terms, whether they are new members or being reappointed.
