Rule 604 Interpreters

If someone in court does not speak English well, an interpreter can help them understand what is being said. That interpreter must be skilled enough to accurately translate between the two languages.

Before the interpreter starts working, they have to take an oath or make a promise to translate everything honestly and accurately. This is the same kind of promise that witnesses make when they swear to tell the truth.
