Rule 605 Judge's Competency as a Witness

If the judge running your trial cannot also be a witness in that same trial. These two roles cannot be combined in the same case.

You do not need to formally object if this happens. The problem is automatically preserved for appeal, meaning you can raise it later without having spoken up in the moment.
