Rule 763 “Recross-examination” is an examination of a witness by a cross-examiner subsequent to a redirect examination of the witness.

After a witness has been questioned by both sides, the questioning can continue in rounds. Redirect examination is when the lawyer who called the witness gets to ask more questions after the other side has cross-examined. Recross-examination is what happens next, when the opposing lawyer gets another turn to question the witness.

This back-and-forth can happen more than once during a trial. Each time one side asks more questions, the other side may get a chance to respond with their own follow-up questions.
