Rule 7010 Form of Pleadings in an Adversary Proceeding

When you file papers in a bankruptcy court adversary proceeding, you follow the same formatting rules as a regular federal civil case. These are found in Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 10, which covers things like how to organize your document, number your paragraphs, and separate your claims.

The one difference is the caption, which is the header at the top of your court document. Instead of using a standard civil case caption, you must format it to match Form 416, which is the official bankruptcy court form. Your caption does not have to be a perfect match, but it needs to be close enough to meet the standard.
