Rule 7031 Depositions by Written Questions

Taking a deposition by written questions is allowed in bankruptcy court cases that involve two opposing parties (called adversary proceedings). This works the same way it does in regular federal civil court cases.

Written question depositions let one side send a list of questions to the other side. A witness then answers those questions out loud in front of a court officer, and the answers are recorded. This is different from sending written questions that someone answers on paper, like interrogatories.
