Rule 7034 Producing Documents, Electronically Stored Information, and Tangible Things, or Entering onto Land, for Inspection and Other Purposes

When two parties are fighting over something in a bankruptcy case, they can ask each other to hand over documents, files, emails, or other records. This is called an adversary proceeding, which is basically a lawsuit within a bankruptcy case.

The rules that normally apply to this kind of document sharing in regular federal court also apply here. That means either side can request physical documents, electronic files, or even access to a property to look at something in person. The other side must respond to these requests following the same rules they would in any federal lawsuit.
