Rule 7065 Injunctions

Rule 65 of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure covers how courts handle injunctions, which are court orders that force someone to stop doing something or require them to take a specific action. This bankruptcy rule says that the same general injunction rules apply when two parties are fighting it out in a bankruptcy court adversary proceeding (a lawsuit within a bankruptcy case).

There is one key difference in bankruptcy cases. Normally, a person asking for a temporary restraining order or preliminary injunction must post a security bond as a kind of financial guarantee. In a bankruptcy case, if the person asking for the injunction is the debtor, trustee, or debtor in possession, the court can skip that bond requirement entirely.
