Rule 9005 Harmless Error

If someone makes a small mistake during a bankruptcy case, such as a filing error or a minor procedural slip-up, the court does not have to throw out the case or start over because of it. The court looks at whether the mistake actually hurt someone in a meaningful way.

If the mistake did not change the outcome or take away anyone's important legal rights, the court can simply fix it and move on. Not every error is a reason to undo the work that has already been done in a case.
