Rule 1.020 Privacy and Court Records

When you file papers with a court in Florida, you must follow specific rules about protecting private information. These rules limit what personal details can be included in court documents that become public record.

Some information, like Social Security numbers, bank account numbers, and details about children, must be kept out of court filings or written in a way that hides most of the details. For example, you might only include the last four digits of a Social Security number instead of the full number. The goal is to keep sensitive personal information from being seen by the public through court records.
