Rule 3.060 Time for Service of Motions and Notice of Hearing

If you file a written motion with the court, you must send a copy to the other side before the hearing. You also need to send them a copy of the hearing notice so they know when it is scheduled.

The goal is simple: give the other side enough time to prepare. "Reasonable time" means you cannot hand them the papers right before walking into the courtroom. The more complex the motion, the more notice you should give.
