Rule 3.330 Determination of Challenge for Cause

When a lawyer wants to remove a juror from a case for a specific reason, the judge decides whether that reason is good enough. This is called a "challenge for cause," and it means one side believes a juror cannot be fair.

To make this decision, the judge can have the juror answer questions under oath. Both sides can also bring in witnesses to support or argue against removing that juror. The judge can look at any other relevant information as well before making a final call.
