Rule 3.550 Disposition of Defendant

After a jury finds someone guilty, what happens next depends on whether the person is already in jail or free on bail.

If the person is already locked up, they stay in custody after the guilty verdict. If the person had been out on bail while waiting for trial, the judge can decide to put them in jail right away or let them stay free on bail until sentencing. The judge can also require the person to pay more bail money than before.
