Rule 7.230 Appellate Review

If you lose a small claims case and want to appeal, you must follow the Florida Rules of Appellate Procedure. This is a separate, more formal set of rules that governs how appeals work in Florida courts.

If you are appealing as an individual, you can represent yourself without a lawyer. However, if a business is appealing, the business must hire a licensed attorney to handle the appeal. A business owner or employee cannot speak for the business in appellate court the way they can in small claims court.
