Rule 12-4 Authority to Excuse from Courtroom

The judge is the only person who can tell someone to leave the courtroom during a hearing or trial. This applies to everyone present, including the parties in the case, witnesses, and lawyers.

No one else, such as a bailiff, clerk, or another attorney, has the power to dismiss someone from the courtroom. If you are involved in a case as a party, witness, or lawyer, you should wait for the judge to officially excuse you before leaving.
