Rule 36 Affirmance without Opinion, When Rendered.

Sometimes the Court of Appeals will decide to uphold a lower court's ruling without writing a full opinion explaining why. This happens when the case is straightforward, the evidence supports the original ruling, or no serious legal errors were made.

A Rule 36 decision can also happen when the lower court already gave a good explanation, or when the other side's legal arguments clearly win based on existing law. The court does not need to repeat what has already been well explained.

The most important thing to know is that a Rule 36 decision cannot be used as legal precedent. This means other people cannot point to it in future cases to support their own arguments in court.
