§ 24-1-106 [Remainder of Writings Rule]

If one side in a case shows the court part of a document, recording, or written statement, the other side can demand that the rest of it be shown at the same time.

This rule exists because showing only part of a document can give a misleading picture. For example, if someone shares just one paragraph of a letter that changes meaning when read in full, the other side can make sure the whole letter gets seen right away, not later.

The key word here is "fairness." The other side can only require the additional material if it actually helps give the full, accurate picture of what was said or written. They cannot use this rule to drag in unrelated documents just because they want to.
