§ 24-11-1 [Definitions for Custodian Duplicate and Public Record]

This rule explains three terms used in Georgia's rules about public records. A "custodian" is the person whose job it is to keep and maintain public records. A "duplicate" is a copy that accurately matches the original document.

The term "public record" follows the definition already given in another part of Georgia's evidence law, Code Section 24-8-801. These definitions help set up the rules about how public records can be used as evidence in court.
