§ 24-6-658 [Compensation of Interpreters by Requesting Agency]

When a court or law enforcement agency asks for an interpreter to help someone who is deaf or hard of hearing, that agency must pay for the interpreter's services.

The person who needs the interpreter does not have to worry about paying for this service. The responsibility falls on whoever requested the interpreter, whether that is a court, police department, or another government agency.
