Rule 7.3 Notification of Previous Presentation to Another Judge

If you already asked one judge to rule on something and they said no (or made any decision), you cannot go ask a different judge the same thing without being upfront about it.

You must tell the new judge that another judge already looked at the issue and explain what happened. This applies to both lawyers and people representing themselves in court.

This rule exists to stop "judge shopping," which is when someone keeps asking different judges the same question hoping to get a better answer. Courts take this seriously, so always be honest about what happened before you walked into that courtroom.
