When a judge allows it, court hearings can be held virtually using video or phone instead of in person. Either side can ask for a virtual hearing, or the judge can decide to hold one without anyone asking.
If a virtual hearing is scheduled, the court will send instructions on how to join. You must follow those instructions carefully and make sure you can connect before the hearing starts. If you have trouble joining, contact the court right away.
During a virtual hearing, the same rules apply as if you were in the courtroom. You should be in a quiet place, dress appropriately, and act respectfully. The judge can remove anyone from the virtual hearing who causes problems, just like they could in person.
