Rule 29.1 Counties to Which This Rule is Applicable

This rule sets up a system to make sure people who cannot afford a lawyer still get one when facing criminal charges. It applies to counties in Georgia that do not already receive state money through the Georgia Indigent Defense Act.

If your county gets state funding under that law, this rule does not apply to you. But if your county does not receive that funding, this rule steps in to make sure you still have the right to a lawyer, even if you cannot pay for one.
