Rule 44.2 Request for Judicial Assignment

When someone files a petition in superior court, the court clerk has a job to do right away. Within 10 days of the filing, the clerk must send a copy of the petition to the Executive Director of the Council of Superior Court Judges of Georgia.

The clerk can send this copy by regular mail. This mailing counts as an official request for extra judicial help under Georgia law.

This process happens automatically, meaning the person who filed the petition does not need to do anything extra to make it happen. The clerk handles it on their own.
