Rule 34 Standard for Granting

When someone wants to appeal a court decision in Georgia, they first have to ask the Supreme Court for permission. This permission is called an "application for leave to appeal." The court will say yes to that request in two situations.

The first is when it looks like the lower court made a legal mistake that affected the outcome of the case. The second is when the case raises a legal question that needs a clear answer for future cases. If neither of those things applies, the court will likely deny the request and the original decision will stand.
