Rule 58 Accounting

If someone is appointed as a special administrator for an estate and later becomes the official personal representative, they don't need to file two separate financial reports. Instead, the money and property they handled while serving as special administrator gets folded into the regular accounting they file as personal representative. This saves time and avoids duplicate paperwork.

But if a special administrator is never appointed as the full personal representative, things work differently. That person still has to report to the court on how they handled the estate's money and property. They must use the same format and follow the same rules that a personal representative would use, even though they never held that full role.

In short, this rule decides who files what paperwork and when. If you move from special administrator to personal representative, your reports combine into one. If you don't move into that role, you still owe the court a full accounting, just on your own.
