Rule 100.8 Absence of Party at Hearing

If one side does not show up to a child support hearing, the hearing can still move forward without them. The person who is present can share their information, and the hearing officer can make a recommended order based on what they hear.

After the hearing, the absent party must be sent a copy of the recommended order along with a notice explaining their rights. This gives them a chance to respond even though they missed the hearing.

The absent party has the right to file an objection to the recommended order. There are rules about how and when they must do this. If they do not file an objection in time, the order may become final without their input.
