Rule 3.9 Service as Arbitrator or Mediator

Judges are only allowed to resolve disputes as part of their official court job. They cannot work as a private arbitrator or mediator on the side, even if someone asks them to help settle a case outside of court.

There is one exception: if a specific law clearly allows a judge to take on that kind of role, they can do it. Without that legal permission, the answer is no.
