This summary is not the rule. The rule text controls.
This rule explains which rules courts follow during a criminal case. In general, courts use the regular Indiana Rules of Court and other state laws about court procedure. These are the same kinds of rules that apply in many types of cases, not just criminal ones.
But there's an exception. If one of these general rules says something different from what the Rules of Criminal Procedure say, the Rules of Criminal Procedure win. In other words, when there's a conflict, the specific rules made for criminal cases take priority over the general court rules.
For someone involved in a criminal case, this means the court has a clear system for deciding which rule to follow if two rules seem to disagree. You don't have to guess. The rules made specifically for criminal cases always come first when there's a clash.
