A judge cannot use their position or title to get special treatment or favors for themselves, their family, or their friends. This means a judge should not name-drop their job to get out of a speeding ticket, ask for special deals from businesses, or write letters supporting someone's personal cause just because they are a judge. The office of judge is meant to serve the public, not to give the person holding it extra perks or influence in their private life.
This rule also stops a judge from letting other people misuse the judge's title for personal gain. For example, a judge should not allow a family member to advertise a business by mentioning their relative is a judge, or let a friend use the judge's name to impress clients or gain an advantage. The idea is to keep the courts trustworthy by making sure judges do not use their power for personal benefit, and do not let others trade on that power either.
