Rule 6 Exemption

If you get called for jury duty, you can usually only get out of it in two situations. First, if you already served on a jury sometime in the last 24 months, you can skip this new call to serve. Second, if a specific law says you're exempt for some other reason, that exemption applies too.

Outside of these two situations, you can't just ask to be excused from jury service. The rule keeps the reasons for exemption narrow so that jury duty gets shared fairly among people in the community, and so courts have enough people available to hear cases.
