Plain-English Summary (for reference only — not a substitute for the rule text above)
This summary is not the rule. The rule text controls.
This rule explains what happens when the leaders of the grievance commission cannot do their jobs or when a spot on the commission opens up. The grievance commission is the group that handles complaints against attorneys, so it needs clear leadership at all times to keep cases moving.
If both the chair and vice chair of the commission are unavailable or unable to act, the executive director of the office of professional regulation can pick another commission member to step in as acting chair. This person takes on the chair's duties until the regular chair or vice chair can return.
The rule also covers smaller groups within the commission called divisions. If a division's president cannot do the job, the commission chair can name another member to act as president for that division. And if a seat on a division becomes empty for any reason, the chair, vice chair, or acting chair has the job of finding someone to fill that empty seat.
